For my (Fred) Eagle Scout Project I am restoring an 18^th century cemetery.  Several revolutionary war  solders are buried in this cemetery including Captain Daniel Vliet whose troops diverted the British long enough to allow George Washington to escape across the Delaware.

On November 20^th the Daughters of the American Revolution have scheduled a rededication ceremony at the cemetery. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 at the Heritage Park Pavilion rain or shine. All scouts interested in participating please meet at the Pavilion by 1:45. Please wear Class A uniforms, and since it will be cold also bring a scout jacket. The ceremony will be outside so dress for the cold. I need as many scouts as possible to attend, so if you can make it please come. All Scouts, Leaders, and their families are welcome to attend.

This weekend I have scheduled workdays for my project that count as service hours for rank. I need lots of help this weekend because I need to put barkchips down on the trail to the cemetery. The schedule is Saturday from 9-12 am and Sunday from 12-3 . Please bring a shovel, a rake, and gloves. We meet near the 9/11 memorial at Heritage Park.

The monthly PLC meeting is October 25^th at the Bethlehem Township Community Center at 6:30 PM. All patrols should be represented, if you are a patrol leader please plan to attend or arrange for coverage with another scout in your patrol.

On Saturday October 29^th between 9 AM - noon and Sunday October 30^th between 12 PM - 3 PM Fred will continue his Eagle Scout Project at Heritage Park.

The annual Bethlehem Township road cleanup volunteer activity for scouts is scheduled for Sunday November 27, 2011 between noon and 5:00 PM. Scouts should plan to meet at the community center.

A permission slip for the fall camporee this weekend is available through this link. Parents must complete for their scout to attend the camporee.

Our Scouts have expressed interest in repeating last year’s successful ski trip to Vermont. We are already in discussions with The Ocean Ski Club to nail down a workable dates, possibly again the week after Christmas or mid-February. We have a lot more planning to do, but would like to gauge interest now before proceeding too far.

The basics:

• Three days of skiing (last year we skied Pico 2 days and Okemo 1 day.
• Overnight accomodations at the Ocean Ski Club lodge in Chittenden, VT.
• Full cooking facilities and a great place to hang out after a hard day of skiing.
• Room for about 15-18 Scouts.
• This kind of trip only works with a good amount of adult leaders – a minimum of 5.
• Pricing is still TBD and depends on what mountains we ski and amount of scouts (to spread common costs). Last year, the cost was about $150 all-in for the tickets, breakfast / dinners, and lodging. Reasonably speaking, I expect it to be a bit more this year, but we all want this to be as affordable as possible.

Individual Scout Popcorn sales are due on Thursday October 27^th. Scouts may turn in their orders during the troop meeting.
