Community Day Update October 1

There is nothing more that the BT Recreation Committee wants to do than continue with our plans to hold Community Day tomorrow on its rescheduled date. At this point, the weather is still not looking good (although today has turned out better than originally predicted so we are still hoping tomorrow is fine). But due to the nature our event and the fact the the movie & fireworks need to be outside, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature. A huge factor in determing if tomorrow's event will happen is also the cost of these events and the cost we would incur in not cancelling in time (we would be charged even if we could not have the movie and fireworks). So please check out our website tomorrow after 11 am http://btrec.sportsoffice.com for the most up to date information.

Again, we thank you all for your patience and understanding. It is frustrating for us that we cannot give a definitive answer until the last minute as well as Community Day is such a fun day for all and we all look forward to it too.

If the festivities do go on tomorrow, don't forget to bring warm clothing, chairs, blankets, etc. for the movie as the temp. will drop at night.

Fred's Eagle Project on Saturday October 1

On Saturday October 1st Fred will begin his Eagle Scout Project. The project is between 2 - 5 PM and we will meet in the parking lot at Heritage Park. Volunteers should bring gloves, bug spray, pruning sheers, etc. Fred has 16 pairs of gloves; the first 16 volunteers that need them can borrow them. You will want gloves because there is poison ivy. There will be water and snacks provided. All are welcome; I also need adults to supervise the Scouts working. Hope to see you there!

September is National Preparedness Month

WHO DEPENDS ON YOU?

A Time To Remember, A Time to Prepare

This September will mark the ten year anniversary of 9/11 and we ask you to take time to remember those lost as well as time to make sure you are prepared for future emergencies. September is National Preparedness Month (NPM), which was founded after 9/11 to increase preparedness in the U.S. It is a time to prepare yourself and those in your care for an unexpected emergency.

If you’ve seen the news recently, you know that emergencies can happen unexpectedly in communities just like yours, to people like you. We’ve seen tornado outbreaks, river floods and flash floods, historic earthquakes, tsunamis, and even water main breaks and power outages in U.S. cities affecting millions of people for days at a time.

This September, please prepare and plan in the event you must go for three days without electricity, water service, access to a supermarket, or local services for several days.
